Pink Dresses for Spring...

I watch the show Priveleged. Yes I do. And I like it. A lot. But not as much I like this dress from this weeks show -And from another angle -

I LOVE this dress. It's insane. I love the pleating and draping, the color, everything about it.

I found something remotely like it at Forever 21 of all places -

I won't be running to Forever 21 to buy it though, dresses there just never look right on me, which i suppose makes sense since it is meant for girls half my age.

I did find this Nanette Lepore dress at Revolve -

Nanette Lepore Sunny Day Dress in Punch

It's not quite the same, but for women who don't want to go strapless it's great, with the empire waist that is so flattering on everyone and the lovely pleating detail that I am such a sucker for. I like it. It's perfect for all those Spring weddings coming up...

Great sales opening this morning at Gilt.

Now that we have that out of the way, I'm so excited about new spring clothes - like this LAMB jacket -

I didn't really care for any of their pieces last season, but I loved so much of it last year and this Spring line looks good again. Yippee.

I also love this top -

and this sweater over it would toughen it up a bit -

fun fun.

Phillip Lim Fall Runway Show

I could not keep up with fashion week, but I"m still going through it all and I am so surprised at how much I like what Phillip Lim showed. I know, everyone in the fashion world loves him it seems, but it doesn't always translate into clothes that real women can wear - it's all for boyish stick thin figures. But something is different this season and I can really see women with all kinds of body types wearing these pieces. Also, it's interesting that it seems alot of trends from previous seasons are still going strong with many different silhouettes remaining current - short dresses, wide trousers, skinny pants, cropped jackets, it makes for a great mix. Take a look at my favorites:

I love the v-neckline and the gathers on the side - this would look AMAZING on an hourglass figure, which is nothing I would have said about any Phillip Lim designs I've seen before.
This next dress as well:

I love this dress. It has a subtle pattern on the fabric, and this would create amazing curves on a boyish figure as well as look amazing on other women.

Then we have the jackets - I thought there were so many fantastic jackets in the show I can't possibly put them all in this post, but some favorites -

I love the cropped jacket over cropped skinny pants, of course this doesn't work on all figures.

This coat is incredible:

I'm really into this cream on cream look -

I love all the ruffles and layers on top, I probably wouldn't even have noticed it except that In one of Isla Fisher's press stops for her movie (shopaholic) she wore a top and jacket combo like this and I could not stop looking at it, it was so beautiful:

Best Oscars Dresses

I was really impressed by many of the dresses worn to the Oscars this year. In fact, I was impressed by the show (I did fast forward through a lot of it) but Hugh Jackman was awesome! I saw him in 'A Boy From Oz' on Broadway and he just doesn't disappoint. I didn't watch the Barbara Walters interviews after the show, but I saw a clip today of his lap dance he did for her. whoa.

And back to the dresses - I'm going to focus on the good rather than the bad here:

Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson, they look AMAZING. I couldn't find a good picture of Viola alone so I put them up together - Taraji is so freakin' adorable and I love both of their dresses.

Angelina Jolie - a lot of people think she looked boring but I like it. It's tasteful and flattering and unfussy, as the mother of 6 kids I can't imagine a better choice. Plus those earrings...

Another black column dress I liked (surprisingly) -

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised since it is a similar silhouette to my wedding dress.

Here we have some lovely blue dresses:

And cream dresses -

Evan Rachel Wood's dress is gorgeous, I love the detail on the bodice and the flowy skirt. It's beautiful, but I hate her makeup and hair, she looks so severe - it's like she is desperate to be an older woman.

Penelope Cruz wore a gorgeous vintage gown -

I also really liked Anne Hathaway's dress, she looked beautiful. I wonder though how the dress fit her because from some angles it looked like the bodice stuck out a little, like it was armor that couldn't quite be molded to fit. Anyway, it was gorgeous.

And Natalie Portman. Let's face it, she would look amazing in a shapeless sack but this gown is great - it's sophisticated but youthful at the same time. Perfect for a young woman who should look like a young woman.

Last but certainly not least, Meryl Streep. She sometime looks kind of crazy at awards events, but this dress is beautiful.

Adorable Sale Dress

I love this dress -

Twist Neck Color Block Dress

If I could wear a brown like that by my face I would get it, but that color just doesn't do me any favors. But anyone who can wear brown should be buying this dress - I LOVE the collar, and the high defined waist, it's at the perfect place to emphasize the narrowest point of a woman's torso. And the cute skirt, a very trendy and flattering a-line with pleats. I think it's clear, I adore this dress.

It would work any time of year, with flats and bare legs when it's warm, with tights in the winter. It would certainly work in a business casual office, I also think a more formal office as long as a suit isn't required each day just be sure to wear pumps with it.

And it's on sale!

Retail Therapy - A Bright Scarf

If you are looking for a not-very expensive way to brighten up your wardrobe as we shift from winter to spring I have just the thing for you -

Tolani Daisy Scarf in Blue/Black

Two of my favorite scarf colors in one! I think this would look great against a grey coat, or denim jacket among other colors. Fun for a weekend look so you can allow your standard scarf a day off.

Lela Rose Party Dresses at Fall Fashion Week

Lela Rose showed some gorgeous cocktail dresses at her fall show. I picked out my favorites. This first one, I wonder if it is good for work with the right jacket or cardigan thrown over it, that would depend on the fabric.

The second dress is adorable! I would love to wear it for parties.

This one just below - I can't decide if I love it or think it's cheesy. I love the pleating detail, I think the issue is with the fabric choice, the shiny-ness of it.

And wouldn't this be a lovely bridal gown? It's gorgeous, I love the way the fabric drapes, and also hugs the body.

Better Than Basics at Fall Fashion Week

I have been looking through the NY Fashion Week photos and most of what I like is party dresses. Not exactly practical. Oh well.

One thing about the fall shows - I would love to wear these clothes right now. When Spring clothes show it's so many months before that kind of weather that it seems almost ridiculous, but right now, I would love these pieces. There were some standout everyday kind of clothes (you can wear these to work), like these two outfits from Boy by Band of Outsiders. I love the cute jacket over dress in the first picture.

I think this is the same jacket, but with perfect trousers.

And here are some nice pictures of the Rag and Bone show. They are very good at making basics look fantastic. This jacket is adorable, I like the wide lapel and the cropped shape.

And I love this jumper in the photo below. The detail makes it really wearable - it will define the waist. I could see wearing that all the time, for work and for nights out. Just change the
shirt underneath (or don't wear one) and the accessories.
