Packing for Spring Break part 1

Going on a vacation this Spring? We are going to Florida for a few days at the end of March and I'm already thinking of what I want to pack. It's fun to think about nice weather and summer clothes when it's cold and stormy here. First up, those great Jcrew peep toes I posted yesterday, but what else?

How cute would this little dress be as a poolside cover-up?

And I love white jeans -

Citizens Of Humanity Jeans Phantom 29

I have a pair of wide leg white jeans from last summer but I'm thinking of adding a skinny pair, and Citizens makes the great pair above.

And for shoes, these adorable Stuart Weitzman sandals are on sale -

They also come in white patent, which looks great as well. I love the gold cutout heels!

This is a good start!

Reem Acra Fall 2010

I usually love Reem Acra's gowns, but for this season his funky mini dresses won me over.

I started with this gold extreme a-line, this would work for most people (as long as it hits the right part of the leg) I like it!

These are different,

This striped one is more body conscious than the others,

These are funky, the same style just in different fabrics. I am into the shoulder-cut-out look with the chunky necklace and shoes, a far cry from the Reem Acra wedding gown I tried on when I was looking for my wedding dress...

Perfection in a platform peeptoe

My latest obsession -

How perfect are these shoes? So sharp, I would wear them with absolutely everything. Yes, that's a zipper in the back. Perfection in a shoe...

You can find them at J Crew.

L'Wren Scott For Fall 2010

I love L'Wren Scott's fitted designs, she showed some interesting and really pretty pieces for fall.

I think this jumper skirt is cute, it does kind of remind me of something from either a Molly Ringwald movie or Blossom, I can't decide which but it certainly has a modern look.

I love this next one, it is such a sharp look. I would love to dress like this all the time but Berkeley is just not the place...

This is the perfect work dress. Enough said.

Fun and tasteful at the same time -

and just plain hot -

Doo.Ri Fall 2010 and creating those outfits for now

I Love these two outfits from the Doo.Ri Fall show, and just because her versions aren't available yet(and would be very expensive anyway) doesn't mean we can't wear similar outfits right now!

Yes it's true I don't like leggings and they are not pants, however in these outfits the longer tops and thicker fabric of the pants make it work. And I just love the silhouette of these outfits. So, to put them together now...

The skinny black pant -

There are options here in terms of fabric and length. The key to making them look like your legs go on forever would be to tuck them into sky high platform boots or booties. I like these (and on sale at Revolve)

Generra Skinny Knit Pant in Black

Or these if you prefer denim (it's thicker and more forgiving!),

Paige Premium Denim Skyline Drive Peg in Eclipse

Or these -

Rock & Republic Johnson Motorcycle Ponti Pant in Black Eye

For the first outfit, a big drapey sweater coat like this one works well -

Line Abby Drapey Cardi in Caviar

For the second Doo.Ri photo above, a jacket like this might work -

Mike & Chris Wesley Lambskin Leather Moto Jacket in Forest

Or this one -

SWORD Volterra Leather Jacket in Grey

This one would work as well -

Funktional Drape Leather Jacket in Grey

Just imagine it open and loose. The secret is to make sure the shrunken jacket fits properly through the chest and shoulders, and hits at the right length at the bottom.

The tops to follow...

A Beautiful Dress

This Brian Reyes dress from his Fall 2010 collection is AMAZING!

I love the colors of the fabric and the shape, plus that detail over the bodice. I want it, and NOW. Wouldn't it make the perfect Spring dress too?

Zac Posen Fall 2010 highlights

Despite the economic woes of Za Posen's line, he seems to have turned out some good pieces. There are fewer ball gowns, and more clothes that look like a regular person could wear them.

This first look is a knit outfit, I don't love the color but I do like the shape and the pattern on the top.

Here we have a really wearable work outfit, i LOVE the pants in particular. He is using his fitting skills usually reserved for gowns to make pants, fantastic.

And a really cute sheath -

Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2010 highlights

Diane, as usual, did amazing things this season. I see that slim ankle length pants are still huge for fall, I like that look so I'm happy. She did great wearable day-time clothes as well as her specialty - the cocktail dress. These are my favorite looks.

I really like this silhouette, the black slim pants and top (or is it one piece? I'd prefer to think not) and the patterned jacket. Pretty much everyone could pull off some variation of this outfit.

I actually like the stripe on these pants, as well as that gorgeous purple/blue in the top.

I love the slouchy-relaxed look of this one, It doesn't need the big sweater coat over it, the dress and belted sweater over it would look great on their own.

Without the big puffy shoulders this is THE perfect black dress. It would look amazing on everyone, the ruching works well if you have curves, or created them if you don't. And the v-neck is great as well as the length.

The next two looks are just so much fun, I want to go to a party in either of these!

She always does a great metallic dress, this is like wearing liquid gold -

Ode to the Cocktail Dress - Lela Rose Fall 2010

I have been sifting through photos from fashion week and as usual it's a little overwhelming. I thought I'd start with a winner - Lela Rose knows how to make a dress. Somehow, she created a collection with a lot of perfect knee-length or shorter dresses. Most of them are party-wear, but this first one would be perfect for work -

How cute is that one? And below, the BLUE! whoa. I LOVE the color, the v-neck, the bubble-ish skirt, I can just see it on everyone ALL THE TIME! was that effusive enough?

And this dress, I don't often think things this color are lovely, but this one is -

But this one makes me drool -

I adore this little black dress as well, it's perfection!

ah, the shine!

And last because I find it absolutely enchanting -

It's the perfect cream confection of a dress, the ruffle is beautiful. I would never gravitate towards a cream or white dress normally, but like all the dresses above, it is just gorgeous and I would wear it in a second. In fact, I wish I had events to wear them all to, sadly in Berkeley I would look very out of place in these dresses so all of you who have events to go to- when these hit the stores you must buy them!
