More Sale Coats (Mackage)

After the trench post from yesterday I started looking around for more sale coats and found a treasure trove.

This first coat is Mackage, it's a puffy coat essentially, but much more stylized than the standard puffy. The photo makes it look quite severe but try to imagine it without the crazy hair and the over the knee boots -

Style: Ace/Color: Black

I also LOVE this shorter coat -

Style: Willow/Color: Peacock

The shape of that one is adorable, and being shorter it will be easier for more women to wear. I also like the collar, it's dramatic without being too dramatic...It comes in the lovely peacock blue above as well as black, white and charcoal. They all look really cool.

I also really like this wool plaid jacket -

Style: Quinn/Color: Black

So many coats, so little time...

Trench Coats For All

I have been less than inspired these days, the rain for days and pretty much only been thinking about ways to stay dry. I haven't bought myself a trench coat, I would love a Burberry but can't even think about spending that kind of money so what else is out there? I found some good options.

This William Rast one is interesting, and on sale -

William Rast Classic Twist Trenchcoat in Beige

I also like this navy option from Trovata -

Those are a start, I would need to throw on a warm scarf and hat...more on those another time.

Rain boots for everyone!

Northern California is experiencing a week long deluge. It's ridiculous, yesterday we even had hail. So...rather than feel sorry for ourselves we all just need to buy good rain boots and move on, here are some favorites that if you order today, will be delivered tomorrow, just in time for the second half of the deluge! most of the brands also make styles for men and kids, so click through the pictures to find them.

This first pair actually comes in a lot of colors, something for everyone!

Hunters come in alot of colors and styles as well so if these are too tall, I'm sure they have a version for you -

Fun Rain and Snow Boots, for you and the kids

Last week the rains came. It was earlier than usual, so many of us were caught totally unprepared. whoops. In case you and your kids need a few ideas, a few of my faves -

Chooka Big Kid Honey Bee Rain Boot

How cute is that toddler option? This one is also really adorable -

Or maybe you have more of a little fashionista at home? Then this may be just right -

I have both warm boots, and wellies, and I use them both a lot. My warm boots are La Canadienne, they are great in rain and snow, they really keep me warm and the leather is really nice. This is one of their many styles -

La Canadienne Women's Passion Boot

It's a great riding boot style.

I love these brightly colored Cole Haan waterproof boots -

Winter is Back...

It's suddenly winter again in Northern California, it's been in the 50's and pouring for the past few days. That's really cold for January here, let alone May, and homes are not well insulated so it ends up being cold everywhere, all the time. Not good. I don't seem to have a good raincoat either, so it's not a fantastic situation.

I saw this fun Miss Sixty one on overstock and thought about ordering it -

Miss Sixty Women's Balmacaan Trench Coat

My wellies are solid black, and pretty much everything else I ever wear is a solid color too so I don't think it would look too crazy. And I thought I saw a similar raincoat by Marc by Marc Jacobs the other day too. Hmmm....

But there are also all of these cute bright red options -

This would certainly brighten up a dark rainy day.

Hunter Boots on SALE

I love wellies - the knee high (or shorter) rain boots that can come in fun colors or basic black. This version is on sale at Endless in 4 fun colors that look like patent leather, it's still fun but not as girly as the patterned kinds -

Kamik Women's Ellie Rain Boot

I own a basic black version, but there are lot's of options and the original rain boot by Hunter is on sale at Gilt Group today and tomorrow. They have them in black, brown and hunter green with fun striped accents - if you aren't a member use this link:

Rain Rain Go Away

Today is disgusting here. It's one of those days you really don't want to leave the house. Apparently the wind is so strong that some of the bridges are even closed. This calls for a good rain outfit. I watched an episode of my favorite tv stylist's new show "Fashionably Late with Stacey London" and she had audience members try on rain coats, boots and hats and put one person in a rain machine, one in a huge refrigerator and one in front of a wind machine. It was pretty freaking funny to watch, but this morning on my way out I felt like I was being subjected to all three at once. Not nice.

So here are my suggestions for beating the weather:

These are Kors by Michael Kors version of the wellie, and they are also available in orange - both are pretty great! you can find them on sale at my favorite online boutique Shopbop.

For a raincoat I love this Kenneth Cole Reaction jacket :

This jacket is great for several reasons, the first is the tie at the waist, it's actually a buckle and with the strong squared shoulder makes the waist look tiny, just what every woman wants in a coat. This is available on my favorite discount designer website Bluefly.

If you are in the parts of the country dealing with snow and much colder temps look for boots by La Canadienne, they look fantastic and they are weatherproof, they even keep your toes warm and toasty.
