Knee Length Black Cocktail Dresses

As I posted about on Friday, I have been thinking a lot about my sister's upcoming wedding lately. She asked me to help her pick bridesmaids dresses, and I have to say, while this might be an unpopular opinion, and I don't mean to insult anyone else who thinks differently, I hate bridesmaids. I hate how it looks, I hate the idea of putting loved ones in the same dress and I agree wholeheartedly with the jokes in the movie 27 Dresses that no one wears those dresses again. Ever.

But with that said, Erica has 3 future sisters-in-law and me, so we had to do something. The flowers are going to be colorful and springy, as will the tablecloths so luckily she agreed with me that a basic color (or non-color) like black works well because it won't create visual chaos. We chose a knee length silk taffeta dress that comes in 4 or 5 different styles so we could each choose according to our likes and dislikes and figures, as the 4 us range widely including 2 nursing moms!

I was looking at the White House Black Market site and they have similar dresses that are less expensive and would be great dresses to have in the closet whether you have a wedding to attend or not (I'm a big believer in having great party dresses in your closet so when the time comes there is no scrambling or settling) plus they have this great deal -

$20 off a Merchandise Purchase of $80 or more at White House Black Market. Enter 8822 at Checkout. Offer Valid 03.23.09 – 04.26.09. Online Only.

So let's check out the dresses -

I really like this taffeta dress, It's a great shape for many body types and a really great price.

This next dress looks like an affordable version of those runway dresses I blogged about by Lanvin or Roland Mouret,

Love them!
