the perfect skinnies

Somehow I forgot how great the perfect pair of skinny jeans can be. I actually tried on some jeans the other day and was reminded how fantastic J Brands are, and worth every penny - really.

The basic pair - the 12 inch skinny is definitely my fave,

Sandals are the new Chicken Soup?

I have had a raging cold. I hate that, but somehow I seem to catch everything that walks by. argh. So that's why I've been radio silent the past couple of days. I finally seem to be on the mend, or I'm having a good couple of hours anyway.

Before the cold hit I saw these adorable sandals in a store, so I thought I'd share...

Perfect for Spring break, no?

The new hot one-piece

According to Fashionista, apparently one piece suits are more popular than ever. Who am I to argue with such a practical popular vote!

One-pieces aren't dowdy, in fact there are some pretty amazing styles out there, like this one for instance -

Poko Pano Liz

This red one is also fantastic -

RYGY Swimwear Desire One Piece

It also comes in black.

Finally, a trend we can all enjoy!

Akris and YSL Fall 2010

The Paris shows have been going strong, I'm posting some of my favorites -

The first is from Akris. I usually love more from their shows, but this time it didn't wow me. I like these trousers, and they had more like this in different colors -

Examples from the YSL show -

I love the cut of the skirt above, and the trousers below -

My Oscar Favorites

As usual, there were some fashion winners and losers. I'm choosing to focus on the winners!

First up - Queen Latifah, who looked absolutely gorgeous. This is not the best angle but still, the dress was perfect, her hair, makeup and accessories were also perfection.

Gabourey Sidibey (I hope I spelled that right), she loved her Marchesa gown and so did I!

Elizabeth Banks, I loved the whole look. I could do without some of those fluffly layers at the bottom, but overall her dress, hair, makeup and accessories created such a stunning look it didn't matter so much.

Anna Kendrick - I would not have chosen the color, but I did love the gown. It's ethereal.

Of all the women in red, Sigourney Weaver is my favorite. How is that this woman doesn't age? It's really amazing, and that dress is perfect for her.

McQ Alexander McQueen and more for this Monday...

I've been so focused on watching the Oscars I haven't prepared much in the way of a blog post. Tomorrow I will be back with some Oscar gowns, for now I just wanted to post that Gilt has some great sales starting this morning - McQ Alexander McQueen is the first sale I want to check out. I always love this line but now that he is gone I bet things will go even faster than normal. They also have M Missoni, Lizzie Scheck jewelry and Amrita Singh jewelry as well.

My New Red Skirt

On a whim the other day I walked into Anthropologie and actually bought something. I spend so much time looking at clothes online I rarely actually shop for myself in a store these days, but they had this red brocade skirt marked down so many times it was too good a deal to pass up -

I can't find a better picture online, it's slightly high waisted with a bubble shape and pockets. On me it isn't so much a mini skirt, but it looks great with a pair of high heels, I'm thinking my nude patent pumps, or a funky new sky-high heeled sandals like the Jcrew ones I posted last week.

These are a cute less expensive version -

Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2010

Fashions shows moved to London, and now Milan. I'm a little behind but Dolce and Gabbana just showed. They focused on the black jacket, in all kinds of shapes. Some of my favorites -

The skirt suit

The Tuxedo jacket

A sea of jackets!

There is something about the floral coat above, it is fantastic.

This red velvet dress reminds me of something a ballerina wears, and I like it - particularly with that gather at the waist.

I love this gold top, it would look amazing with wide leg trousers, or skinny pants instead of a dress for a cocktail party.
