I am really into this shoe -

Wouldn't they look lovely with dresses and skirts? I like the dark taupe color and the t-strap style.

How cute is this jacket -

President's Day Weekend Sale - Kain, Thurley, Rebecca Minkoff and many more...

If you are looking for anything, this is a good weekend to shop. Goldyn is offering a whopping 35% off everything on the site! Use code PRESIDENT. They manage to sweeten the deal by offering free shipping for orders over $100.

I LOVE this adorable jacket -

Marley Double Breasted Jacket

It would look great on pretty much everyone, works under a heavy coat as a layering piece in the winter and a lovely light jacket in the spring. And even better, it was originally $286, and now is under $90 - and even lower with the 35% off.

They also have interesting dresses -

Deco Motif Dress

This dress by Thurley looks like a throwback to the Great Gatsby, I love the detail on the straps and the draped fabric at the bust.

I also really like this T-shirt -

Epaulet Tee in Black and White Stripe

It's different, a nice slouchy t-shirt that doesn't look unkempt and again - this sale! It's just too great a deal to pass up!

Enjoy!

The Perfect Layer

I was flipping through a catalog (ok, as I am often doing) and came across this sweatshirt/jacket-

Wrap It Zip It Jacket

I love it! The teal color is great, but it's the shape that sold me. I love the biker jacket idea, but don't want to buy a leather jackets now, and for me, a nice jacket/sweatshirt is much more wearable. I can wear it out shopping with a client, or to the gym and it will look great. I have been considering buying much more expensive versions, but this one is a great price. And it comes in black as well-

Great Designer Deals and Free Shipping at Yoox

Yoox (designer discount site) is offering free shipping until December 23rd, and they have some fantastic things at great prices. In addition to the Vince sweaters I posted a little while back, (some of which they still have) there are some gorgeous dresses, pants, jewelry, pretty much everything.

I LOVE pretty much anything from Vanessa Bruno, and Yoox has a good number of her designs, like this adorable purple wool dress -

It's perfect for parties, with stockings and black patent platforms, or pair it with tights and silver flats, you can even do a thin turtleneck underneath, tights and boots. This really is a versatile dress.

Yoox also has men's clothing and accessories, there are a lot of good deals for guys as well like this Trovata blazer -

The site can be overwhelming, so best to start with your favorite brands or the item you are looking for, be it a jacket, a skirt or a scarf.

Happy shopping!

a new tux jacket

I'm into all the new jackets these days, relaxed boyfriend jackets, shrunken jackets, tux jackets, what a great and stylish way to both keep warm and hide anything.

Piperlime now has a great selection in a range of prices, starting with this tux-inspired version under $100 -

Women's shoes & accessories: MM Couture Tuxedo Jacket - Black

The same brand also makes an inexpensive relaxed, double breasted boyfrend jacket -

Women's apparel: MM Couture Double-Breasted Boyfriend Jacket - Black

Personally, I think the shrunken jacket is a more universally flattering look. It adds curves if you need them, or hides a multitude of sins. You can throw either jacket over something as simple as a t-shirt, and make it look special.

This is a Central Park West ponte jacket, I would probably wear this every day over everything, think of it like a much better shaped sweatshirt...

This Marc by Marc Jacobs stretch wool version is pricey but great - check out the waist,

Love them all...

Great New Black Jackets for Fall

Fall has really set in here, although it sounds like Winter in a lot of other places...we just put on our heat for the first time this season. I'm also looking though my clothes so find the coziest pieces, but there are so many great new options!

I love this well priced jacket from Dolce Vita -

Dolce Vita Camryn Jacket in Black

This is great choice for everyone, but in particular for women with narrow shoulder and/or a pear shape, it will even out the shoulders with hips, and look fantastic.

This jacket is also different and wearable -

Kai-aakmann Jacket in Black

It's shown with a miniskirt which just seems silly to me, it will look great with both skinny jeans and wide legged jeans. Much more realistic for a cold day outfit than the mini-skirt.

I am totally crazy for this gorgeous Rebecca Taylor ruffle front coat -

Rebecca Taylor Cashfeel Ruffle Me Up Trench Coat in Black

It's got a heftier price tag than the other jackets above, but this is one piece you will look beautiful and striking in for years. In my opinion, coats are one of the things we should pay as much as we can for.

Cute Inexpensive Fall Basics

Back to reality from looking at all the Spring 2010 fashion shows...Old Navy has this deal going for the next few days,

Get 15% off any Old Navy purchase of $75 or more, plus free shipping! Enter ONPLUS15 at checkout. Hurry offer ends 10/8/09.

So I have put together a couple cute outfits with their cute basics, starting with these adorable skinny pants -

Women: Women's Low-Rise Skinny Pants - Black Jack

I love the fun color of this swing coat, I have an orange wool jacket I bought a few years ago and it is so fun to pull it out each year -

Women: Women's Wool-Blend Swing Coats - Ancho Chili

All the celebrities seem to be wearing these plaid western style shirts, it's not a trend I would want to shell out big bucks for, best to get it from somewhere like Old Navy, and it would look good with jeans or the black skinny pants show above.

Women: Women's Plaid Western Shirts - Pink Plaid

Or this cute shirt- dress in black or khaki, both great backdrops for fun jewelry and other accessories -

Women: Women's Drawstring-Waist Shirtdresses - Black Jack

Women: Women's Drawstring-Waist Shirtdresses - Gentle Fawn

Old Navy also sells flats that would look great with these outfits, but to be honest I thin it's worth paying a bit more for a pair of shoes to make sure you are comfortable and that your legs and back stay healthy!

Here are some fun flats, from piperlime so you can order all of this stuff at once (they are from the same company)and I think you get free shipping this way as well -

Women's shoes/bags: Lucky Brand Alisa - Teal

Women's shoes/bags: Seychelles Square Dance - Clay

Happy shopping!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Spring 2010 - great dresses

Phillip Lim is a fashion media darling, Hollywood starlets love him but to be honest, I never really thought many of his clothes seemed wearable by real people. Until now.

I just went through his show from last week during New York Fashion Week and holy crap. I loved pretty much every single look and I think these are really wearable by real women.

The first two looks are great pieces for every day life, the cropped trench in the first photo and the amazing mustard or gold skirt in the second-

I can't quite tell is the outfit below has a skirt or shorts, but whatever they are, I LOVE this. The top is so interesting with different textures and colors, and the waist is nipped in as in all of the following looks (which makes things much more wearable, versus the sacks or complicated things that only look good on models)

The look below would be work appropriate with cardigan or jacket, and it looks like a great party look without it.

This may sound crazy but the dress directly above reminds of the urim v'tumim, the jeweled breast plate the high priest would wear in the Temple as described in the bible. That is cool for a geeky historian such as myself :) Plus I love the different textures and colors, as well as the shape of the dress. It's really fantastic.

I love all of those dresses above and I would seriously love to wear them all. phew. Spring may be very expensive for me! It looks like alot of trends will continue, metallics, cinched waists, pencil skirts and full skirts, 80's era jackets with strong shoulders. Nice. To see all of the photos click here for style.com.
