I posted about upcoming sales on Gilt yesterday, but the ALi Ro sale today is INCREDIBLE, I want everything - the beautiful pleated silk blouses and lovely dresses.

Strappy Sandals for Spring Parties (and Weddings!)

Now that the showers have started for my sister's wedding, and our bridesmaids dresses have been chosen, the shoes are the next decision to be made. Erica thought maybe silver or black strappy sandals, and this might seem totally shocking but somehow I don't even have any in my ridiculous shoe collection. The options below range in price from $37 (yes, that is right) to $181. They are all available at Endless which means free shipping and free return shipping.

The first is a gorgeous, classic leather Bruno Magli version, yes the most expensive of the bunch, but also very versatile which to me is worth it because I HATE buying a pair of shoes for one party, I just won't do it. And these are a really classic shape, and marked down to $181 -

Bruno Magli Women's Fai Sandal

These Modern Vintage strappy sandals also come in black and are marked down to $92. I have had good experiences with this brand of shoes, they make beautiful shapes, and for the height of the heel are actually pretty comfortable. And this price is great -

Modern Vintage Women's Melanie Ankle Strap Sandal

These Charles by Charles David sandals also come in black and are marked down to $60, a crazy good deal.

Charles By Charles David Women's Dovey Sandal

And this last pair is Nine West, and marked down to $30 - $37 (depends on the color) so if you don't want to spend much on shoes, this is your pair.

Nine West Women's Accolia Slingback Sandal

These are all great options, but they might have a heel that's a little too high for you, tomorrow I will post lower options.

Happy Shopping!

Knee Length Black Cocktail Dresses

As I posted about on Friday, I have been thinking a lot about my sister's upcoming wedding lately. She asked me to help her pick bridesmaids dresses, and I have to say, while this might be an unpopular opinion, and I don't mean to insult anyone else who thinks differently, I hate bridesmaids. I hate how it looks, I hate the idea of putting loved ones in the same dress and I agree wholeheartedly with the jokes in the movie 27 Dresses that no one wears those dresses again. Ever.

But with that said, Erica has 3 future sisters-in-law and me, so we had to do something. The flowers are going to be colorful and springy, as will the tablecloths so luckily she agreed with me that a basic color (or non-color) like black works well because it won't create visual chaos. We chose a knee length silk taffeta dress that comes in 4 or 5 different styles so we could each choose according to our likes and dislikes and figures, as the 4 us range widely including 2 nursing moms!

I was looking at the White House Black Market site and they have similar dresses that are less expensive and would be great dresses to have in the closet whether you have a wedding to attend or not (I'm a big believer in having great party dresses in your closet so when the time comes there is no scrambling or settling) plus they have this great deal -

$20 off a Merchandise Purchase of $80 or more at White House Black Market. Enter 8822 at Checkout. Offer Valid 03.23.09 – 04.26.09. Online Only.

So let's check out the dresses -

I really like this taffeta dress, It's a great shape for many body types and a really great price.

This next dress looks like an affordable version of those runway dresses I blogged about by Lanvin or Roland Mouret,

Bridal Shower Gift

I am in Chicago this week for my sister's first bridal shower, so in the spirit of showering, check out my favorite pot ever -

Le Creuset 5.5-qt. Round Enameled Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven, Cherry Red

Everything made in it somehow tastes better and it cleans so easily, AND it will come with a free Le Creuset baking dish. Sounds good to me.

The New Penny Loafer, Thanks to Marc Jacobs

You know that shoe style from the mid 90's, the black chunky shoe, either a slightly more refined doc marten or the penny loafer?

Well, Marc by Marc Jacobs has done an updated version that somehow manages to look right, while also referencing those old shoes (admit it, either you had them or they are still lurking in your closet)

check them out in black patent leather -

684231 Black Patent

They have that old shape, while still looking more like a more delicate flat, even a ballet flat shape with a bit of a chunky heel. It would look great with skinny black pants.

bad advice involving glue and fringe

Apparently the Today show had some hack who calls herself a stylist recommending people GLUE FRINGE to their clothes if they can't afford to buy something new. That is totally freakin' wackadoo.

Seriously.

If I see anyone on the street who looks like they have followed this absolutely horrendous advice I will tell that person they should hire a lawyer and sue. Or get their head examined for thinking it sounded like good advice.

If you can afford glue and FRINGE (I can't stop capitalizing, just imagine me yelling that) you can go to a Forever 21 and buy a fun belt. Please do that instead. PLEASE.

Check out what they say about it in the Cut. It's funny, and they have a video.

Incredible Shoe Sale at eLuxury

eLuxury is having this amazing sale, 40% off of sale shoes through Monday. I could not resist, I ordered two pairs for myself and I'm trying to not order a third pair, but check out these deals -

I didn't buy these hot pink snakeskin peep toes, but I really can't stop thinking about them, how awesome would they look with, well, everything? I will definitely need a pedicure, I haven't had one since my wedding in November and the sun is finally out here. It's pedicure season!

Eva Longoria Parker in Karen Millen

I recognized a dress Eva Longoria Parker was wearing recently, but could not remember where I'd seen it, and then I saw a picture of her today in yet another dress I recognized and realized it - they are both from the British line Karen Millen, and under $300. I love her clothes, I have 2 skirts myself and they are my favorites, these dresses are also fantastic!

After seeing the picture above I googled her and Karen Millen, and it seems she wears Karen Millen clothes all the time. Jeez, guess I should pay more attention to these things...

Charlotte Ronson Fall Show

I'm still going through Fall runway show shots, and saw these great Charlotte Ronson looks. I love the dress in the first one, try to ignore the long gloves, this look is great - the flowy fabric with the lines down the front and the cinched waist. Lots of slim looks and cinched waist in the fall shows.

This look is so easy to imagine on so many people, I love it.

Recreate Runway Looks

I have been looking around for a good top that I can tuck into high waisted skirts, or wear with jeans and it's harder than I imagined it would be. I have something pretty specific in mind (as usual) which makes it harder to find (as usual...) and this top looks like it hits the mark, the only problem is they no longer have my size, but they might have yours so click to take a look -

Rory Beca Edna Tulip Zipper Top in Lipstick

And this skirt - I love it to recreate a lot of the looks from the runway, at a fraction of the price. The tulip style can be a little scary at first, I mean what woman wants to add heft to the hips, and as I've said many times before - just because it's trendy doesn't mean it's for you, but it's worth giving this style a try, it is really cute.

Yaya Aflalo Midas Skirt in Onyx

Cynthia Rowley Fall Show

I'm into the Cynthia Rowley looks for fall, alot of black pieces that can be mixed into our existing wardrobe, and this great bright blue skirt to add a shot of color.

I like this dress, cardigan and layered necklace look.

And this cropped sweater or jacket over long top and cigarette pants.

Narciso Rodriguez and Marc by Marc Jacobs at Gilt today

Don't forget - Narciso Rodriguez sale at Gilt opens at 9 AM PST, 12 noon EST. Best to be on time for this one, I imagine this stuff will be gone in just a few minutes.

They also have a designer costume jewelry sale, Marc by Marc Jacobs for women and True Religion for men.

Tuesday brings Alice and Olivia, and Frette - amazingly luxurious bedding. There are other great sales the rest of the week, if you aren't signed up this is definitely a week to do so. Click here for an invitation to join.

Roland Mouret Dresses

I'm continuing where I left off last week - Roland Mouret's incredible fall show, this time with the dresses. The photo above might be separates, either way, I love it, along with all of the photos below. SOmetimes his dresses look so tight they seem constricting, these seem to flow a bit more, maybe it's the ruffles and ruching, maybe it's that Victoria Beckham isn't wearing them (she loves her skirts SOOOOO tight, and heels so high I have no idea how she moves).

I love these colors - teal, burgundy, perfect fall colors and honestly, I happily wear them all year. These are also dress shapes that are timeless and work all year long. Amazing.
